| ||I hold a BA (Hons) in Film and Television Studies (2012-15) and will soon graduate with an MA in Tourism, Development And Environment (2016-18)|
I have spent several years working alongside children in voluntary roles in the UK and overseas. In the UK, I was an assistant teacher and coordinator at an after-school language class primarily targeted at UK-born children of the Ethiopian diaspora. My role entailed observing the class in-session, acting as a liaison between students and teacher, providing learning materials and resources out of my own budget to enhance and diversify learning methods and experience.
In addition, for several years, I was involved at WHEAT Mentor Support Trust, an east-London based charity aimed at migrants and refugees which included a children and young people’s activities programme. In this programme, I took on a variety of roles and responsibilities such as registration, organising the schedule, setting up the apparatus and equipment, leading sessions on an ad-hoc basis (when original instructor or teacher was absent). During my college days, I was a reading partner for several children based in nearby elementary schools.
In Ethiopia, I participated in a gardening project (inaugurated in 2015) aimed at disadvantaged children affected by illness.
I have acquired my criminal background check (DBS) and prepared a copy of my degree which I've sent to the Foreign Commonwealth Office for legalisation. I also have my University transcripts ready at hand and a valid British passport.
