Jack Webster

Profile:
I have always had a desire to learn and share knowledge with others, and throughout my educational life I have participated in various coaching and teaching roles.
I have a keen interest in language, culture and history. These are interests that I believe give me an infectious enthusiasm in an EFL classroom.
During my time at university I frequently engaged in debates and discussions, and consequently, I have developed the ability to convey information effectively and coherently.
I have used a mix of creativity and organisation in order to achieve a first class history degree. These are skills that are essential to achieving desired results in an EFL classroom.

Employment:

DW Sports Store 07/2014 – 04/2015
• I worked as a retail assistant in DW sports store alongside my studies.
• I became an experienced, valued member of a sales team, where I was regularly involved in training and mentoring new staff members.
• The job's main task was to interact with the public and effectively elicit customers needs, thus my communication skills enhanced.
Contact Company 04/2012
• I was involved in assisting elderly customers complete a television digital switch over, via the telephone.
• I was required to issue clear, informative instructions to customers whom did not understand basic technological language.
• Therefore, I was required to patiently explain instructions and information using clear, uncomplicated, concise language.
Merseyside Police Cadets 09/2009 – 06/2011
• From the age of 16-18, I volunteered as a Police Cadet.
• During my time in the Police cadets, I was required to control and supervise crowds at public events (such as marathons and charity events).
• Being given the responsibility to maintain a controlled, well behaved environment at such a young age required me to develop maturity and interpersonal communication skills.
Sports Leadership 09/2009 – 09/2010
• Once a week, from the age of 14-17, I coached football to children between the ages of 5-9.
• The group sizes ranged between 8-20 children, sometimes of different ages and skill levels.
• This was an enjoyable, rewarding experience that developed an understanding of working with young and unskilled learners.
